Ode to my Hot Friend Heather

This is my partner in crime...her name is Heather. Now, for all of you who don't know how Heather and I became friends, you don't have to look to far...the proof is in the picture. We were pregnant with our first children at the same time, and so ensued the wacky ride of pregnancy, cravings, hormones, giving birth, and raising little girls. Heather has seen both of my children born, actually. And to tell you what a true friend she really is and how she has stuck with me....while in labor with my first child, I told her about how much I love butterflies during an epidural fantasy, and then during my labor for Katie I asked her if she actually made her ridiculously expensive Vera Bradley Purse.

Although our girls were our first bond, I think we have stayed friends because of a true connection that you just don't find every day. And perhaps its that no one can stand us. We share a common obsessive tendency, a love for shoes and children, and we can shop like there is no tomorrow (or at least no sale).

Anyway...Heather has been saying for months that she doesn't think the running is working for her body. So, I of course, I thought she was lying and being too hard on herself. But we have been doing this running thing a while, and I thought she would start lightening up on herself. She just kept telling me over and over that she wasn't loosing any weight. (I don't believe the girl HAS a scale though, so I don't know how she could tell) Then I thought..." Oh my lord, what if she isn't seeing any improvement at all, and I am dragging her into this torture for nothing more than so I can have someone to complain with?". So FINALLY she posted these photos on her blog.....all the time she was posting it she was still telling me that she was the F (fat) word (which she has never been in her life anyway).

Well......

My friend, Heather, IS HOT!

Her legs....are just amazing. I so wish I had calves like that. Look at her tan, and she still has boobs, and her arms look awesome and her tummy is flat, and her Lilly is adorable. And this photo was taken after a run! So, I just had to post of photo of my partner, because even though we live 2.5 hours away, I always feel like we are running together.

Weekly Milage Report: Vacation week....

Bemis Mountain in the Winter...

This week was funky. I didn't run as many of my miles as advised per the marathon matrix. However, the week was filled with intense-moderate exercise that I feel would supplement more than adequately for my lack of miles. On Monday I ran 5.2 miles, Wednesday was 7.8, Thursday was another 5.2 mile day. On Tuesday I swam quite a lot, and walked a rigorous 2 miles. Friday also walked another moderate walk of 3 miles or more. And on Saturday Mike and I climbed the Bemis Mountain Peaks near the beginning of the Appalachian Trail. It was about a 2 mile walk in and then a 4 or 5 mile hike up to the peak...very steep terrain up 3,562 feet about sea level. It took us about 2 hours to summit the second peak, and then we started our journey down. The whole trip took us from 9:30 AM until 2:00 PM. I guess I don't feel that guilty about missing my miles this week, but next week I will be busting out the miles with some more energy, and hopefully more stamina.

Weekly Milage Report: July 30-August 5th

So this morning I logged on to my blog and posted a note that said that I wasn't going to do my miles today. I was too tired, too sore, and too overwhelmed with vacation packing to do the last little bit for the week. Then I started pacing...feeling sick to my stomach, and I was irritable. It dawned on me that my attitude was do to the fact that I only at 3.01 miles left for the weekly running goal and I was going to just let it go because I was being lazy and unmotivated. So...I laced my Nikes, and just did my 3.1 mile loop without looking back. I ran up all the hills, not stopping to walk even once. The air was cool, and dry...it hadn't been that way in days. It made the run easy and enjoyable.

Monday: 3.1 miles
Tuesday: 7.17 miles
Wednesday: 8.22 miles
Thursday: 30 minutes on the stepper
Friday: Off
Saturday: 15.5 miles
Sunday: 3.1 miles
